Re: NelsonFoto dot Com

Hmmm... I'm going to guess that Nelsonfoto is pretty much gone for good. The web address isn't even recognized any longer (it used to say that the site was expired or something like that, now it just simply says "this site can't be reached"). Crazy. I had a lot of time invested into that f...

Re: Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and more

I took a Pony out a time back. This Pony though was with a Nikon. ;) LOL. Yeah, the Pony IV is actually a pretty sweet little camera. I shot a bunch of slides with one back around 2006/2007, and they looked fantastic. That f3.5 Anastar lens works really well. It has some softness in the corners at ...

Re: Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and more

A little late, but I also wanted to wish everyone a great start to 2017!

I hope to burn up a lot more film this year. I just got an old Kodak Pony 135 up and running, and picked up a Nikon N90s and a Chaika 1 half-frame camera. Nothing like starting out the year with a few more neat toys!

Re: Clarus MS-35, resurrected

Danny, I have film for it, but lately I leave for work before the sun comes up, and get home after it goes down. I'm trying to prioritize running film through the 4 cameras I've been working on, sometime this weekend. Hopefully I'll have some scans for you Sunday. Scott, by all means take your time...

Re: Clarus MS-35, resurrected

TOTALLY waiting for an update... you are definitely the master of suspense!!!

I can't wait to see if your Clarus performs as well as the one I used to have (which I believe I got from you several years back). That Wollensak lens on those things is actually pretty nice!

Re: Camera for a first-timer

I don't understand all the hype about the Pentax K1000. Sure, it's a solid and dependable K-mount SLR, but it doesn't even have a DOF preview feature. When learning photography, figuring out how to use DOF properly is very important. Consequently, I don't really think it's the best "starter&quo...

Re: NelsonFoto dot Com

It would be cool to see Nelsonfoto go up for a few months more. I know there are several threads of mine I'd re-post here, and it would be a shame to see all of the camera repair info, found film presentations, etc. all disappear. However, I also agree that after this little time window, it's probab...

Re: NelsonFoto dot Com

Bummer. I had a great time learning about photography on Nelsonfoto. It was definitely a great community! As much as I enjoyed the site and the community it fostered, photography has changed a lot since most of the members have migrated elsewhere. Personally, as we move on into the future I'd be fin...

Hmmm... I'd like to know how he gets f2.8 with the 1a he shows in the pictures.

Definitely a badly written article full of sweeping statements and incorrect generalizations. "Often regarded by most photographers as completely useless"... what a rubbish statement.

Re: End of the line for packfilm: Fuji discontinues FP-100C

Fuji got its stuff from Polaroid? Really? FP-100C was totally different from any color film Polaroid ever made. Plus, they were making the stuff at the same time as Polaroid when they still made packfilm. So I don't think they just "got it" from Polaroid after Polaroid stopped making 669, ...
