Flickr broken?

Post by Philip »

Any other Flickr users experiences aggravating fits and starts at Flickr the past couple or three days? When pictures load, much of the page is missing (like Comments and Groups and Tags), and Stats don't always seem up-to-date.

Having just paid for an extension of my Flickr "Pro" account, I worry that it is imploding. :)

I have a free account. Have not noticed anything unusual lately.

Could just be some connectivity problems in your area, Philip. It gets like that for me every time Verizon (my phone line provider) has an issue somewhere in the contiguous twenty counties. Usually because some contractor dug up a trunk line to a server farm. Hey, isn't it trawler season up there?

I've noticed some performance degradation, on and off. Assume they're having some server difficulties, not necessarily anything horrible. Will only worry if it continues.

I've seen no discussion of it on Flickr's own groups. Oh well, this means I have to search out what the problem is, rather than let Flickr fix it!

Not this week but a few weeks ago I had the exact same problem.
If we all saw the world the same no one would need a camera.

I found what may be the problem. When I disabled my McAfee "Web Advisor" Flickr bounced back into shape for me! My McAfee had done an update just before Flickr started acting up for me. :)

Well that was an easy cure.

I'll never use McAfee again. Every time they updated, the computer just got more difficult to operate. And then they screwed me out of $45 when I tried to renew.

Webroot has worked very well for me.
