Monocle?

When medium format isn't big enough: 4x5, 5x7, 9x12, 8x10 and even larger.

Monocle?

Post by scott »

Hi all -

So I found some old lenses (term used loosely here) and thought I'd see how things look on the 8x10. This is I guess technically a monocle lens. $3 glass magnifying lens from Ace Hardware. I'd tried it, unsuccessfully IIRC, on 10x12 years ago, put it in a drawer, and there it sat. Trimmed the lensboard the lens is hot glued to last week, taped a Packard in front and shot a couple of Maddie while she was home last weekend.

Not an everyday sort of thing, but I like the effect. I have an idea for a landscape kind of shot with this, stay tuned.

Thanks PF. Bad news, though - it appears that Fujifilm has discontinued, or at least halted, UM-MA. So, looks like when I'm done with the film I've got, I'm back to square one. I think I have like 75 sheets left, so not a today problem, but I think I'm going to need to start scrounging for cheap film. Again...

I guess they're shipping again at Z&Z, but this is so far following the death throes of B/RA...
