Olympus AF-10 Super Quartz Date camera test

You point and then you shoot. Some are inexpensive. Some are very expensive.

Olympus AF-10 Super Quartz Date camera test

Post by PFMcFarland »

Another in a long line of sliding door Point & Shoot cameras from Olympus with a 35mm f3.5 lens. For a $2 user, it does pretty well.

Phil, you got a great run of good pictures with the Olympus. The Big Wheels and the steam engine really catch the attention and the woods and fog pictures are beautiful. I think you've got quite a bit more than your $2 worth from that camera. I would guess that this comes fairly early in the P&S development; I seem to remember a Pentax that had that squared-off look with a sliding door.

Thanks, Bill. After doing a little research, the AF-10 Super Quartz Date (USA=Infinity Jr., Japan=Picasso Mini-Super) appeared in 1990 http://www.olympus-global.com/en/corc/h ... index.html , which puts it nine years after their first compact AF camera, the C-AF.

It turns out I also have an Infinity Jr. that I was going to use in a shoot-out with three other 35mm P&S cams. But I notice that the Infinity Jr. lacks the flash control switch of the AF-10 Super (dumbing down to the US market).

Not bad at all, outstanding for a $2 find.
