My mother came bearing gifts - Soviet gifts

With interchangeable lenses and larger sensors, these two popular camera styles appeal to the professional in all of us.

Thanks Alex, I may take your word on that one!
I just bought a Kiev4A from KEH, it's supposed to come with the soviet version of the same lens (Jupiter 3)
It will be interesting to see any differences; and to see if the camera works well :)

I remembered that Cosina made a Contax-mount Bessa but the prices of those are ridiculous

If you can't fix it with a hammer... you got an electrical problem
even duct tape can't fix stupid.... but it can muffle it (SilentObserver)

I guess I'm in luck
The Kiev4A from KEH came with the Soviet copy of the Sonnar 50/1.5 from 1952.
The lens seems to be in decent shape

Jupiter 3(1952) vs Sonnar V1 (1932)

The camera is OK, seems to have been taken good care of.
It's fun to play with and the speeds from 25-250 seem OK
The slow speeds (10-5-2) seem too fast and the high speed (1250) not trustable anyways

The Sonnar 50/1.5 seems to be a wonderful lens, I ran a few test in Fomapan
I'll send the lens for cleaning/service next week

Jupiter 3 , I took it to Chicago and walked around.
Nice lens also.
Imagef/1.5
Imageflare is a problem, which is not uncommon for uncoated lenses
ImageHalloween display at f/1.5

The Carl Zeiss lens was not properly set, i.e. it was not focusing correclty
I had it serviced and will develop the roll and share
