When I had my SP-445 I had to use hand made adapters to my 9x12, good there are 3D available now.

There are some setting to put in the scanner when it's Phoenix, I can't find them at the moment but there should be online somewhere.

Sewing thread and pull the spring until you reach the other side and then hook it up. Does it sound easy? I never tried but I think the thread should be good to be pulled without breaking.
