The Vello NSD-355 film scanner

I bought this from B&H Photo at a discounted price - roughly 50% of the US$135 retail price. I split this into two parts, because the video started to get way too long. Anyway, I thought this works very well. This has two advantages over other approaches that use a digital camera: The negative r...

The Argus V-100

I can't recall where I learned about these cameras, but once I saw them I had to buy one. Well, two actually, because they are the same camera but with different lens offerings. These were made by Iloca, and they're very nice little cameras, except for the EV lock of the aperture and shutter speed r...

Re: East German Goodness

Oh, those are so nice! I have one of these and shot part of a roll, although I didn't finish it. I forgot how good these cameras are.

The East Germans produced some really good cameras.

Oh, no - that's horrible. I guess thieves are everywhere. As long as there are humans, there will be good and bad things happening.

I think that all of these look good. Were you on the NYC Highline? Because some of those shots look mighty familiar.

Re: Restoring smooth opening on a Retina II?

I have a Retina II, and the lens door does not pop open. In fact, it almost doesn't close. I have to pull the door open and push the door closed.

This is the model with two eyepieces - one for focusing and one for composing - and a circle on the front of the lens door.

Re: Nikon F film cassettes

Yes, I just tried, and sadly it doesn't fit. You know, you can use the Zeiss Ikon cassettes with nearly all Zeiss Ikon cameras with removable backs with keys: all Contax cameras, Super Nettel, Nettax (35mm), Tenax II, early Contaflex, Contaflex TLR and Contarex. I've used these a lot with the Tenax ...

Re: Nikon F film cassettes

I wonder if these are the same ones that were used for the Nikon rangefinders. You know, I have one of these and a Nikon F2A, so I should try and answer my own question.

The one that I have looks like it was based on the Zeiss Ikon film cassette.

My least favorite camera of all time

It's the Voigtlander Prominent, and it's not even close.

The ergonomics of this camera, combined with the weight and the "focus by dial" system make this a real struggle to use.
The Ultron is a really great lens, however.

Re: Agfa Automatic 66, in manual mode

In the product lineup, does the Agfa Automatic 66 sit above the Super Isolette?

I agree that the Solinar really performs well here. I'm looking forward to retirement so I can spend less time doing things that I don't like (Excel, Outlook, etc.) and more things that I do like (photography).
