Re: Forgotten Canon
... Yours is working just fine, Paul, and the photos are lovely. PF Well, it was sort of working just fine. The shutter doesn't always full open, meaning a random chance of a random format picture - sometimes full frame, sometimes half frame, something no frame. It's a bit annoying, but given what ...

Re: Agfa Isolar 9x12cm plate camera
The dividers in the Orbital stop the sheets escaping their quadrant. Of course, if you overfill the thing you do risk a sheet floating away, though the "skis" on the underside of the lid may stop that happening - I've not tried ;) Rather than roughing up the base (and permanently marking i...

Re: Agfa Isolar 9x12cm plate camera
For developing my 4x5" and 9x12cm film I use a Paterson Orbital. It's like a daylight tray in effect. You can do four 4x5 or 9x12 sheets, two 5x7 or one 8x10, and uses less that 200ml of developer. Easier to find in Europe than the US, but worth keeping a look out for. Another option is, if you...

Re: Camera Porn Friday
Cute little camera, seems to be more than capable in your capable hands.
I've got a similar "format" Ricoh 500G. The only downside is that it is shutter priority and manual - I much prefer aperture priority.

Rescue animal
I was doing my lunchtime walk today when I came across a cat looking intently at this "little" fella. Cats quite like playing with these large native insects (wēta) as they are quite durable compared to mice. But given he's a native I rescued him and placed him amongst one of the many impo...

Forgotten Canon
Well, browsing the local auction site can be a dangerous thing, tempting the weak into giving in to their gas.... It's funny, you read about a camera model, then you start seeing them "everywhere". Probably because you're looking for it! Anyway, there were several of the older, less popula...

Re: Use film instead of glass plates?
The metal sheet in the middle of the picture, with the folded over edges, looks like a film insert. I have similar looking film inserts / sheaths for my 9x12cm camera. Load the film in the sheath, put the sheath in the holder, the sheath ensures the correct overall thickness. Or, if I've got a 9x12c...

Re: Karat36 goes West
Interesting looking camera and seems capable enough. How's the viewfinder / RF on these?
I've seen these pop up on the local auction site a few times recently, so far I've managed to resist them temptation

Re: Adjusting the RF in a Karat 36
Chris's videos are excellent. They gave me the confidence to fix several cameras recently.
