Years ago when I redid the 10x12, I replaced the handle with one of these from Brettun's. They don't seem to carry it anymore.

Doh! I'd forgotten about them! Thanks for the link - would never have remembered that, and would like have bought something off eBay or Amazon that wouldn't survive 20 minutes.
