Summer '69; Scotland, Part II

Back to Scotland, the summer of 1969.

I'm a little confused; the last photo that I posted was of a sign that said Balmoral/Aberdeen.Braemar - but we'ed already been to Pitlochry - which was AFTER Balmoral/Aberdeen on the slide magazine labels. Oh well, perhaps we're a little out of order.

The slide I labelled "Cumbernauld Bridge" was actually the Firth Railway Bridge. The other one was the Firth of Forth road bridge.

We pick up where we left off:

I think the monument you couldn't place is on the grounds of St. John's Episcopal Church. It kinda looks like the right area I remember from when we were in Edinburgh, but I could be wrong.

Thanks for the tip; it gave me a starting point. The Roman-looking building in the background was a clue. Looking at the Google satellite image of the area around St. John's Episcopal Church - and the stretch between the Scott Monument and St. John's, it appeared that the Royal Scottish Academy had such architecture. Yup - Google street view shows the Academy, plus the distinctive building across the street - but the statue in question is hidden behind some trees.

Is that a salt bin in front of that bus shelter? I didn't realize that it got quite that cold there.
