Camera Porn Friday

I visited my dad over the weekend, and before I left he told me to remind him to give me a camera he was holding on for me. In the past, this has usually meant that he stumbled on yet another plastic Instamatic clone found while cleaning out my grandparents' house. This time, however, it meant something slightly different, the Univex (autocorrect really wanted Unisex) Model AF pocket folder:

One speed, one aperture, tiny meniscus lens. In pretty solid shape, except the shutter (two speeds: Inst and Time) no longer seems to function, and unfortunately the shutter case is riveted shut, access thus being most likely destructive-only, so I guess it's destined to remain a shelf queen. But I was still tickled by the acquisition, and it takes its place on the shelf. Not to mention the fact that it used a proprietary (non-Kodak!) film cartridge. Heavy little bugger, built like a tank. Designed to be cheap and cheerful, and I guess it succeeded at that.

I love that crinkle-paint finish too.

If we all saw the world the same no one would need a camera.

Kodak Chevron - the styling is similar to the Signet 35.

Nice, Phil. Don't think I've seen one of these.

I am looking for a new 120/620 RF. I will keep an eye out.

The Signet 40 is a 35mm camera, Larry. Agfa made a good one in the Isolette line, but they are rare, and pricey. The Kodak Medalist is 620, but also expensive.
