The Impossible Project's new I-1 camera

This is a new instant-film camera - the I-1.

It looks a bit stark, but it has some interesting features. It can connect via Bluetooth to an iPhone or Apple Watch. It can then transmit the photo that you just took to your phone or smartwatch (and presumably an iPad).

That sort of goes against the idea of a film camera, but I guess if you run out of film. Or whatever. It's an unusual concept for sure.

Years ago, I had the idea that Polaroid ought to reintroduce the SX-70 as a hybrid film/digital camera. Images could be saved to a card, but with the option to produce a print now or later. Seems that Impossible must have come up with something similar.

I was also thinking of the SX-70 when I first saw this camera, and how it would have been great(er) if it had somehow been foldable like the SX-70. Now it rather looks like a Polaroid One Step. I rather like the design or the apparent finish though, and the Rollei-style selector wheel on the side.

There is a reminiscence of the Canon Dial (imported to the USA by Bell & Howell in the case of the photo that follows) in this unit, don't you think?

I got my hands on one recently to hold and try. It needs a little refinement but a good start.

If we all saw the world the same no one would need a camera.

Yes but I can't show them.
