Engeles22 is a spammer and has been sent to spam purgatory. His attempt to spam the forum was blocked.

karoyamnraajl joined this morning and promptly tried to spam the forums about house insurance or some nonsense. Yes, he was crushed by the banhammer.

We're experiencing a spate of spammers at Camera-wiki.org. We had 66 new accounts in September (I guess less than half a dozen of those are real people), and 39 so far in October. Registering new accounts seems to be one job for the spammers, and using them for spamming is a separate one. For various reasons, including how quickly we block them if they post spam, a lot of the accounts never get used (I think many of them belong to just one or two people). I'm trying out an approach of blocking any account that hasn't made any edits at all one month after registering. Eventually, we'll need a regular sweep to delete (not just block) them; for now, the wiki's cluttered with dozens of imaginary users.

Mollymao is a spammer and can take his place alongside the other spammers. That is, he's been banhammered.

Dustin - spammers are one of the many scourges of the Internet. This forum software is pretty decent. I've added some anti-spam controls that block spambots but not the human spammers. Most of them come from China and India.

By blocking spambots, it makes it relatively simple to take care of the rest.

And I agree with Larry that everyone at Camera-Wiki does a really nice job with the content.
