I suggest we give it a nice Wake. It was a big part of our lives at one time but we all had to move on. R.I.P. NelsonFoto.
If we all saw the world the same no one would need a camera.

Phil - I agree that there is no long-term future for the site, but getting it back online for some period of time would allow folks to retrieve some of their posts and perhaps re-post them here (as suggested in Mike's post below). Maybe Mike would be willing to take over making the monthly payments using contributed funds. Mike?

What do you think about throwing in some money and keeping the site up and then grabbing some posts - maybe not all 11,000 of them or 20,000 or however many there were? But a few hundred or maybe a few thousand? I can create an area here - Best of Nelson foto, The Nelsonfoto Vault, etc.

Sure, I can take over the duties. Just send me an e-mail. Let's give it six months (give or take), and then let it fade into history.
In the meantime, we can grab everything that we can. I'll send a mass e-mail this weekend to let everyone know what we're doing.
Sound good?

Yep. Include your Paypal address so we can send contributions. After the site is back up, maybe we can start a discussion of the best way to grab posts in a way that makes re-posting easier.melek wrote:Sound good?

I'm in to pay towards it.
I'd like as much of it preserved as possible, simply as a permanent, near-archival record.

I am in, too. Would like to muse over there one more time and save a lot of info.

Digging around there was a thread that I just had to save for the future, and it looks like the future is already here, so ...
Once upon a time, when a number of (highly) original folks were fooling around, this comedic piece formed itself. It was August 2005 when things had barely gotten started ...
