The dp2 Quattro is one of the bolder/unusual camera designs. It's like they took a solid bar of steel and bent it about 4/5ths of the way.
I see that Sigma already has slashed the price from $1,400 to $999. It's not yet publicly available, and this is the pre-order price. I don't know if the price will rise once it's widely available.
Even at $999, I think the dp2 Quattro will need to be one hell of a camera.
The camera will have three lenses: 19mm, 30mm, 50mm. The 30mm is the "normal" lens.
Specs:
- APS-C sized Foven X3 Direct Image 29MP CMOS sensor
- Sigma is claiming a 30% resolution gain from the Merrill generation
- Interchangeable 30mm lens (with 1.5x crop, it's equivalent to a 45mm lens) with 8 elements in 6 groups
- 9 aperture blades (aperture range is f/2.8-16)
- ISO range: 100-6,400
- Auto-exposure lock plus 1/3 exposure compensation
- 9-point selectable autofocus, including spot focus and face detection
- Manual focus is possible using a focusing ring on the lens
- Images are composed and reviewed through a 3.0-inch monitor. It doesn't say that it articulates, and an exploded-detail graphic of the camera (below) seems to show a fixed LCD screen.
