Old traditions are hard to forget

Often simply written as "W/NW" - your favorite photos. Explain them, or let your photos (film or digital) speak for themselves.

Old traditions are hard to forget

Post by PFMcFarland »

Back when this Forum was Nelsonfoto, we used to post our birthday photos on a semi-regular basis. I know it's been quite a while since I did so, but then I'm not the best selfie taker. That said, I'll revive this tradition as I've reached another milestone date which a couple years ago looked sort of iffy to accomplish.

So, on Monday I reached 70 years of age, and I shared my selfie with my Leica IIIf RD made the same year I was born, 1953. It sports the Leitz Summaron 3.5cm 1:3.5 with the hood, the SBLOO finder, and an OKARO contrast finder filter for all you technophiles out there who need to know. The camera works fine after all this time and a new set of shutter curtains. Me, I'm about 80-85% on a really good day. But I'll take that over the alternative.

Thanks, Julio and Pablo. That is the 3rd Compact Edition of 1983, Pablo.

1983! wow!
I have a version from before you were born.
It is the binder type and the last update was in the early 60s

My uncle inherited from a friend of my grandfather, and he passed it to me in the 90s

According to my book, the original index was published in June 1939, which is the type you have. Then there is the Thirty-Eighth Edition of 1981, followed by the Third Compact Edition of 1983.

Happy Birthday! May this be only one of a long series of birthday selfies!
