Baby ringneck snake

My wife & I went hiking on a trail near the Neuse River and almost stepped on this little guy. He was about the size of an earthworn and couldn't have hatched mor than a day or two prior. We guarded him/her while some bicyclists went past, then showed it into the grass.

There's probably a bunch more under that rock.

Love the snake photos, keep 'em coming.

Mike, I saw a similar snake near Huntsville a few months ago, when my sister and I visited the Dyer Memorial. He kept disappearing into the nearby bushes when I would walk by, so I never got a photo of him.
Photography is a form of time travel.
