I have a Zorki4 for a few years but the shutter needs replacement (it is a sieve) and the quote to fix it was pretty high

Yeah, that is a bear! I added some superlube instead of rem-oil and its been fine since I love the lens in the Jsolette 3 and mostly use it as scale focus but sometime the RF is very useful. I can confirm it is a left hand screw. Mine came off really easy. If yours is still stuck then someone might have used some thread locker on it. Alcohol might dissolve that.
