The Tessar 40mm received from Alex was originally for Tenax. It looks beautiful in a Barnack body, a very compact package.
Obviously this was an experiment. The technician supposedly had adapted the RF cylinder that moves the cam so that it would work with the Leica. But that did not happen -- the RF was way out. Most of the test roll was like Capa's book, slighty out of focus. Fortunately I had shot a few by distance guessing as insurance.
Additionally I got the development time wrong and the negatives came out very dark, my scanner struggled. But a few frames show the old Tessar character. more or less.
I experimented with my Alpa viewfinder set in the middle of 35 and 50 marks, but the field in the pictures was way wider than what I saw in the viewfinder. Probably a 35mm setting would have worked OK.
Lots of learning for a single roll!
Testing the Tessar 40mm
Re: Testing the Tessar 40mm
It's good to see that it covers 35mm full frame because the Tenax II shoots 24mm x 24mm.
I like the results of the Tessar. Sharp as expected. Looks like you had a lot go awry with this roll. Glad that you were able to get some nice photos from it.

Sorry to hear he couldn't adjust the rf, good to see zone focusing works.
I like the outcome of these pictures and the full set is beautiful.

Re: Testing the Tessar 40mm
Fate I tell you. I was just offered a Voitlander Ultron 40mm in Nikon mount. It is just that I am not sure of how much I will like the 40mm focal length. I have a camera with a 42 and that is pretty close. I guess I can look at the photos I took with it but I am really not sure the price will be worth the amount of time it will be on my camera.
If we all saw the world the same no one would need a camera.

Re: Testing the Tessar 40mm
Thanks for the comments!
Larry, the 40mm is a great focal length for a lot of subject matter, especially in street and landscape. I would look carefully at any adapted lens, and of course 42mm is the same for all practical purposes.
