Tachihara 4x5 field camera.

When medium format isn't big enough: 4x5, 5x7, 9x12, 8x10 and even larger.

Tachihara 4x5 field camera.

Post by alexvaras »

Hi all,

I sold my Nagaoka 4x5 and too this very similar one but with spring back which pleases me more than a graflok back, I know this one is more useful but...

I promise tomorrow upload photos of the camera, so far a test I did at home with my two kind of holders, Toyo 4x5 and Linhof 9x12. They have been done with the Heliar 18cm.

Both seems ok with the ground glass, maybe Linhof a bit off but if using smaller aperture it won't be noticed.

Thank you for watching,
Alex

Very similar where the focus line falls, Alex. Very similar. You shouldn't need to worry in the future which holder you're using.

Everything locks well and the only thing I will change is the ground glass, I found a local provider who makes an special treatment to ground glasses making them brighter (not a fresnel), let's see if it's true.

Lovely camera, Alex. I think what is used is a chemical glaze to craze the surface, which lets more light through than the normal sand grinding method.

I got the ground glass but is still dark for me, my previous Nagaoka had fresnel and created a vicious on me :D
The good thing is that all the image even corners are well illuminated.

I got a new stock, two packs of 50 sheets of outdated Tmax 100 from 2005, shot as 50, good results, I like it a lot!!
With Heliar 135mm f/3.5 wide open.

Symmar 210mm f/5.6.
