Les Gediman needs some help finding an old post

If you need to unleash a rant or just have something that you want to say, you can post it here. It doesn't have to be about photography.

Les Gediman needs some help finding an old post

Post by melek »

Today, I received an e-mail from Les Gediman, and he is looking for some help in locating a photo of a document that he thinks he might have posted on nelsonfoto.
I lost or misplaced an important MIT commendation for my work on the Apollo Program. It was framed under glass and given to me shortly after the moon landing on Apollo 11, July 20, 1969.

I believe I posted an article-journal, including the missing document in Nelson Photo.
Does anyone recall reading this? Les didn't say when he posted it.

Les is 93.

I was just thinking about him the other day. Trying to find a decent Summitar, or as Les would say, "Summitar, the Star!".

Unfortunately, NelsonFoto is no longer, so even if I could remember that posting, it is gone to the eather. I want to say I saw it, but my recollection is not the best in the world. Would have been over ten years ago when he posted it.

Great job - I'm sure that he'll be really pleased to learn that. Do you still have his e-mail address? If not, I can PM you with it.

He said Claudia is still doing well and turns 91 next Saturday (Aug. 31, 2019).

You're welcome (and Les, too). What I first did was a Way Back search for Nelsonfoto, but all they have are snapshots of the home page, and the Forum sections. None of the articles or posts have been archived as far as I can tell.

Since that turned into a dead end, I just typed Les Gediman into the Google search field, and found his Photobucket site because the image wasn't in his Flickr Photostream. I told him he can do a Password reset if he wanted to download the original image, as I feel the one I saw has been shrunk. A good heads-up on giving me his current e-mail address, as I still have his old one. I hope to hear back from him.

Well done, Phil!

And anyone in touch with Les, please pass along my best wishes to him and Claudia. I remember their pictures and contributions with much affection.

Les's photographs from post-war Italy, in particular, are some of the best pictures we ever saw on Nelsonfoto!

Thanks Phil for finding my lost document. It was a tedious job to look at all my photos in my PhotoBucket account up to page 55. Thanks for your persistence, which deserves a citation. I'll work on it.

Feels so good to come out of hibernation and see so many old friend's.names I now know how Rip van Winkle felt.

Phil, sending you a letter PDQ!

A very grateful,

Les
