A Challenge

Often simply written as "W/NW" - your favorite photos. Explain them, or let your photos (film or digital) speak for themselves.

Wellington - Calm by Night, on Flickr

Taken beginning of April this year, round mid autumn, on one of those beautiful calm nights that Wellington occasionally gets. I'd remembered to take the camera along with me, so after swimming that evening in the nearby pool, I wandered around nearby withe the little Sigma DP2M. I've shot a similar scene a couple of times in the past, with 9x12cm LF, 6x9 MF, and a couple of times with the GF1.

The DP2M is a really special little camera - quirky, limited, but capable of some stunning results.

Usual subjects. Pentax ME, IIRC with 35mm/f2.8 lens.

Julio,

Absolutely nothing wrong with the usual subject, you always do fine work with boats. I bought an ME for my wife even before we were married. That series of cameras had a good feel to them.

Thanks for meeting the challenge.

Best,
Dennis

Ditto what Dennis said, Julio. I always like your boat shots. I still have an MX that I bought new.

Thanks Dennis and James! The ME is the camera I use when I feel lazy, i.e. often, instead of my K-1000.

Sorry, I'm a bit late to the party, lots going on in my world.

Here is a shot I took in January of this year, at Ashbridges Bay in Toronto. It was very, very cold that day, but I was getting cabin fever and had to get out for a walk. So, I drove to the beach and tried to find something to shoot. This little bit of land that juts out is a favourite scene of mine, I'm not sure why, but I've taken pics of it before. There's just something about it I like. The film is a tad grainy, but I don't mind.

Nancy, wonderful picture! It reminds me of gravures of 80 years ago.

Nancy,

Thanks for joining, you are not late.

Ditto what Santiago and Philip have said. I love the mood of the shot, and I don't think the picture would be as successful without the grainy look of the film.

Hmmm....wonder if either of my photo editors allows me to add grain...I really want to add this effect occasionally.

Dennis
