I bought a Canon AE-1
I bought a Canon AE-1
There seem to be a lot of them out there, but finding a working one at a decent price (less than $75) has been a real challenge.
Like many Canon AE-1 cameras, it has the shutter squeak, which doesn't seem to be too difficult to correct. Overall, it's an interesting camera that is about the right size for most people.
This has the updated FD mount lens. I also have an older breech-mount 50mm, and I might compare both lenses at some point.
It came with a Sigma 28mm and a Canon 135mm. Years ago, I had a Canon 85mm, but I didn't have a Canon camera, so I sold it.
It needs new foam seals. Of course, it does.

That was a good looking and great performing camera.

Squeaky Canons are a problem. Seems like it was only the AE-1 and AE-1 Program that were affected. The New FD (FDn) lenses are definitely a joy to use.

I have one of those, with the FD 50mm f1.8 lens. I love it, apart from the lack of aperture priority - shutter priority and manual (match the needle) only.
