Mando Beauty Shots

When medium format isn't big enough: 4x5, 5x7, 9x12, 8x10 and even larger.

Mando Beauty Shots

Post by scott »

'Morning, all -

Have been actually putting effort into technique on mandolin lately. Was looking at it this morning after some practicing and thought, hmm - 5x7? Have a new bench/stand for the lathe in the garage that is, as yet, latheless, so I threw a blanket over it and set up a few shots. No lights on, just indirect light from the windows on the garage door. Ended up with the following:

The first one is, to date, my longest exposure: 1:05:00. Shot with the Ross 5" I recently got on eBay. I'm pretty happy with the lens' performance, though I need to actually shoot some more landscape-y things with it. And definitely need to pull it apart and get rid of some of the internal haze. It's WWII era, so uncoated and lower contrast anyway, but it's showing it's filth. The second is with the Sironar-N 210/5.6. Both on Arista.EDU Ultra 100 in HC-110 dil H.

Back to scales...

Beautiful!! Amazing how tilt gets everything in reasonable focus. There is something in LF indeed.

I only see the second image, was there a first one? There is a little ? sign above the image.

A nice shot of the bridge and f-holes. It loaded for me. Try again, perhaps?

Thanks! Had the tilt maxed out on these - really appreciate that this camera has it.

Weird that it’s not showing. It’s on my Flickr here. Let me know if that works.

First shot doesn't show for me either, but the Flickr link works fine.

If you can't fix it with a hammer... you got an electrical problem
even duct tape can't fix stupid.... but it can muffle it (SilentObserver)
