We watched this butterfly emerge from it's chrysalis this morning.

Great picture! And what a wonderful experience it must be to see it happen...

I just discovered something weird that I hadn't noticed yet: every time I see a beautiful picture like yours above, my next mouse click is to hit the 'ebay' favourite in my browser. :shock: Why does it trigger the gear buying reflex in me instead of 'go out and shoot' ? :?

Graham,

Superb shot. Did the background just happen, or did you use a card or sheet? The effect of isolating subject from background is terrific.

Benny, it's called "gear acquisition syndrome" and there is no cure, so I would just go with the flow!

Thanks Dennis. No, no background, just whatever was there, but I opened up to f5.6 to throw it OOF. I grabbed the small fold-up reflector that I carry in my bag and laid it flat underneath, as the butterfly was in total shade.
