A great shot, Dennis. Like a good photographer, you got them to smile for the camera.

This is my sister Cheryl, at the Victoria Butterfly Gardens, last June. The bird is an Eclectus, called Little E. You're not supposed to touch him, but he loves to jump on your shoulder and coo in your ear and bite your fingers!

During this visit, a school group was touring the Butterfly Gardens, and this butterfly landed on this boy's hat. I told the boy to freeze, snapped the pic and then the butterfly flew away!

This is me, five years ago, with my new kitten, Froderick.

This is my daughter Grace, in Pere Lachaise cemetery in Paris, in 2008. This is one of the many cats that roam the cemetery, many with extra toes.

Nice work, Nancy! I particularly like your self-portrait. The low-key effect works perfectly.

We had a polydactyl cat for many years. Have you ever heard them called "Hemingway cats"? Apparently Ernest had one when he lived in Key West, FL. They are fairly common down there.

Thanks James, I love the picture of the boy with the butterfly too! I even entered it in a contest that the Butterfly Gardens was holding at the time, but they didn't choose it. I guess because it's of someone else's child, but still, the look on his face is priceless and really expresses wonder at what the gardens offer!

Hi, Nancy,

Yes, we have two minis, George and Oscar. Our old pony had to be put down almost two years ago, leaving my wife with one aging horse. We tried fostering a rescue mare as a companion horse, but Ann finally decided to get the minis. They are really easy keepers, only consuming about 3 lb of hay and feed per day apiece. That makes them fairly cheap lawn ornaments.

There is a cowboy poem that is applicable:
Miniature horses...
Why?

But they are fun to have around.
Please keep on posting!

Dennis

Graham,

Nice shots of Tikki and Noelin. Tikki's fine fur could almost be used as a lens test.
