Leidolf Lordomat with Schacht-Travenar 3.5/35

Using up the last of a roll of Ilford FP-4 + left over from my Indiana trip.

Check, VA is on US-221 between Copper Hill and Floyd in Floyd County. Not much there but a small gathering of houses, and a Country Store. Oh, and someone planted the waterwheel from a mill in their front yard.

Phil, I had to look up the Lordomat online. There were late 50's models that looked well featured. I wonder if an earlier model had been in the Montgomery Ward photo catalog. I remember something that had -lord- in the name. The one you have made fine pictures for you in this set, especially the view from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Bill D.

Leidolf was the other camera maker in Wetzlar. They didn't do as well a business, maybe through lack of marketing acumen, or just too crowded a market. Or the oddball Lordomat name. They did survive as a camera manufacturer until '62, when they were bought by Wild Heebrug, converting to the manufacture of surveying equipment. Wild then merged with Leitz in '87, which became Wild Leitz in '89, then was rolled into Leica Holding in '90.

Someone on RFF gave me a Leidolf C35, so I just had to get the other lenses for it. Instead of the in-house Lordon brand, I went with Schacht-Travenar as they were easier to find. To get the 35mm, I had to buy the Lordomat it was attached to, which turned out to be a good bargain because it was in better mechanical shape than the C35. Other than having to make sure I don't grab the outermost ring on the 35 and 50 lenses when focusing (or I'll accidentally change the aperture setting), it's a good handling camera.
