Peru (Lima, Cusco and Machu Picchu)

Post by Julio1fer »

Earlier in the year I visited Peru with the family. I had been in Lima in business a couple of times before, but never as a tourist, and never in the Andean region. I had long been planning to share some of the pictures here but could not find the time before.

With digital one tends to take too many pictures. A 29-image slideshow is here. Order in the slideshow is Sacred valley area, Machu Picchu, Cusco and Lima. The culture and history of the place is fascinating, and the country is fully geared for tourism.

Just a few teasers. First, the obligatory one, Machu Picchu Inca ruins

The rest are more or less at random.
Catholic priests entering the Cusco Cathedral for a major celebration

Fountain park (incredible place)

And the best restaurant to get it! (Rosa Nautica)

These were taken with the Canon G12, which I found quite a good travel camera. I missed B&W, but in tourist duty there is too little time to be picky, so there. Thanks for looking!

Nice, especially the fountain shot.

As for B&W, isn't that what Photoshop is for ;-)

Julio, these are really good photos: interesting subjects, fine colors...the camera and you did well with the white vestments of the priests. Unfortunately, I was not able to see the slideshow-- Photobucket said that the album was private; please let us know if they change that.

Thanks, and excuses, I forgot to make the album public. You should be able to watch the slideshow now.

Thanks for opening up the slideshow; I enjoyed watching it, taking away a general impression of clear air--little or no haze-- and fine colors. Number 28, a terraced hillside, especially caught my eye.

Clear air indeed, at 10,000 ft or so in Cusco and the Andean region.
