I made flickr Explore!

Often simply written as "W/NW" - your favorite photos. Explain them, or let your photos (film or digital) speak for themselves.

I made flickr Explore!

Post by scott »

Hi, everyone -

My wife and I spent a few days in Martha's Vineyard end of last week. I did some shooting (will post some pictures soon), and posted this on flickr:

Woke up to find a ton of views today and found out it made the Explore section! First time for that. I was geeked.

Congratulations!

I had one about a week ago, too, but I didn't get as many views & faves as you did! :)

Yeah, it's always fascinating to get an Explore. Really pumps up the numbers. How many followers did you pick up along the way?

Congrats. I too recently had one. It seems to be a mystery.

Well done Scott!
I had a picture in Explore once, but it didn't get it a huge number of views or comments. It was the first picture I got out of a rough-and-ready home-made pinhole camera; quite scratched and nasty, and I wished they'd waited until I'd sorted out all of the camera's snags!

I did it 2 times recently by taking old what I thought at the time were boring shots and reworking them a little. This is the latest.

Another one of mine went "Explore" a few days ago. My usual daily views number is about 500 but it shot up to over 8000 that one day; that picture after 24 hours had 89 "Favourites"! But almost no comments. Several people started following my stream as a result but they seemed almost all to be Serial Followers -- people who follow up to 150,000 other people. I have not reciprocated their attention. :)

Here it the picture of mine that made it to Explore this time. I was surprised since it was a b&w film (well, really a conversion from colour film) shot taken in a half-frame camera! And the rumour among Flickrites is that a frame around your picture automatically disqualifies it from Explore; clearly that ain't so.

[ . . . . Sorry, I can't seem to get the image to show. But the link works.]

Philip, just use the little arrow down in the lower right of the image page, and select "BBCode" from the options. You can then cut and paste the link it provides here and it should show up. Like so:
