Fujifilm X30 in Stevenage Old Town
Fujifilm X30 in Stevenage Old Town
I took my Best beloved's Fuji X30 walkabout in the Old Town on 11/11/15. There were pretty Remembrance Day poppies blooming in the trees and a school class being taught about the war at the memorial. The weather was overcast and dull and not conducive to good photography. Given events in Paris, these images are now unimportant.

Good series, Graham. It looks like a nice old English town, the season comes through. Overcast weather helps to get good colours with digital sensors.

Graham,
These are all very nice photos. I am amused by the lady in the cafe who caught you snapping the picture. The old cash register is an interesting subject too.
My bride and I were in Britain three years ago over Armistice Day. I was touched to see how many Brits decorate the monuments, even in very small towns.
Best,
Dennis

Dennis, the decorations are in the form of red poppies, which are symbolic of the battlefields of Flanders. In WW1, the shelling churned up the soil, which stimulated the growth of dormant poppy seeds and thus the battlefields were covered with red poppies. Today we all wear a red poppy in our buttonhole on Armistice day.

Nice series. My wife's traveled to Stevenage many times on business. This is the first I've seen of it. Thank you.

I went to Stevenage years ago for a job interview. I confess I had no idea there was an old town of Stevenage; it was one of the great New Towns.

Lovely shots, Graham. I think the overcast sky was just right for the Remembrance Day photos. It makes the poppies really stand out.
