Winter Storm 2016

Hope everyone who's getting hit by this is safe & warm! In my section of eastern NC, we got about 1/2 inch of ice and a dusting of snow. Seems to have stopped now, although it's very overcast and cold.

Oh, and this happened.

That was a close one. More snow up here than anything else. Somewhere between 8-12 inches. The wind made it pile up in some places, and not in others.

Yeah, we got lucky! Only damage was a smashed birdfeeder or two, one of the house numbers got knocked off, and a couple of windscreens need to be replaced. My wife was outside when it came down, but not underneath it, thank God!

Here is my little back yard in Northwest Washington, DC when I got up this morning (Jan 23). It has continued to snow all day, and by dusk the whole base of the table was covered, leaving only the "dome" visible above nearly 30 inches of snow.

Sounds as if this is going to be your big one this winter. Glad to hear that you went through it mostly all right.

Meanwhile, down here we have 37 C (fever temp) and a small electric storm forecasted for tonight. World weather is more or less a zero-sum game.
