Any watch lovers on here? Like cameras, I adore all things mechanical including wrist watches and pocket watches. My free time is at such a premium these days, but one day I would like to get as skilled in watch repair as I once was with cameras. (no time anymore!!!)

Here's my newest... its my first and I'm pretty stoked about it, even though its a vintage piece. The price was right and the guy had just dropped $600 on a service with a watchmaker that I know.

I wish I had an Alpa Swiss in my film days to go with it! The fountain pen is a vintage Schaffer. I use it every day at work and it costs me nothing but ink. Still on my first bottle after 7 years.

wow. i am a Lamy guy these days, but i used to have Pelikan and Geha pens when iwas over in germany. i used pelikan inks(swear by them) and i am rather fond of the edelstein collection of inks. Private Reserve was another ink i used but i does not flow and write as smooth as the Edelstein inks.....i will go through 4 bottles at least in a seven year span.
Like film....the simple art of writng by hand and with a fountain pen is not just prctical, but i find it soothing.it also forces me to slow my thinking process down immensely and into a more coherent stream when i express my thoughts on Paper.

Coming from a graphic arts background, I can appreciate the fountain pen. Used to love using them myself, but my writing is not good anymore since the stroke.

As for the Rolex, I could get into owning one. A foreman I used to work for back in my railroad days took a vacation to Mexico once, and came back with a $50 version. One of the other guys was looking at it, and said it read "Rolodex".

Both the Mrs and I have a few watches, mainly automatics, though nothing too expensive. I think she has more than I! It's an easy world to get lost in, and one in which a great deal of money can be "invested".

Picked up this little gem for $15 at the flea market. Still works, too!! Haven't been using it lately cause the spiderweb crack in the crystal finally gave way and now there's a hole there. Don't want it to get dirty or messed up, so I've put it up until I can save up the cash to get it properly serviced.

Nice. I have an old Hamilton pocket watch too. Shouldn't the crystal be pretty easy to replace? The front should just unscrew giving you access.

For years now I try to save my pocket money to buy a Rolex Submariner, but I always end up spending it too soon on old hi-fi and stinking old cameras. So I ended up gathering some Seiko's instead.

Here's a nice Rolex GMT Master homage by Steinhart that I recently picked up. Could scratch your itch for a Rolex. Its a VERY nice watch for the money.
