Testing the Nikkor 20mm

Post by Julio1fer »

I found a Nikkor 20mm f/3.5 UD in a Japanese auction site, broken, and went for it in the hope that my repair tech would be able to fix it. He did, changing a broken guide in the mechanism. The glass fortunately was in very good shape, only mechanical trouble.

The repaired lens went immediately into the FE for a test roll, and here are some of the results. First, the Korean Gentle Giant monument, in the Rambla.

Usual subjects in the upscale Yacht Club mooring.

Holocaust monument.

The lens is large and heavy but it delivers, sharp and very little distortion. There are other 20mm Nikkor lenses, f/4, that are smaller and handy. This one is lacking a 72mm plastic cap, which I am getting now. The lens came with an UV filter, which helps to protect this (for me) rare item.

Film was Pan F+ in Beutler. Thanks for looking!

Good shots from that combo, Julio. I don't use my AF20mm enough.

Thanks for the comments. Now, I must go back to 50mm for the next roll. It is easy to get spoiled with an ultrawide. Focus is so tolerant, strong lines jump from the viewfinder, skies are almost always interesting.
