Blast from the past - PARIS IN WINTER -A NFF Thread

I posted this thread on NelsonFoto Forums on February 14th 2008 - Valentine's Day!

My Best Beloved and I recently spent four days in Paris. We took the Eurostar from the new St Pancras station in London Town and were there in under three hours, door-to-door. Because all the trees are in their winter dress, it is possible to see the wonderful architecture which is hidden by the summer foliage. Here are some of the shots that I took using either my Pentax K10D or my Canon Powershot A460. B&W images were shot as such in-camera.

Graham,

That is a fine post! Although you've included places that many tourists visit, you've done so with typical Serretta class: I like the backlighting in the first shot, the vantage point in the second, the humor in the fifth, the intimacy of the shot of the young couple.

You excel at including people in your shots. They definitely add to the first without being the primary subject. And in the B&W shot of the couple, where they are the primary subject, you've timed your shot just right. I like the inclusion of the reflection in that shot too.

Thanks for sharing what must have been a superb trip. I look forward to browsing your gallery, and Noelin's.

Classic, classy shots of a classy place. I like the several unusual compositions of typical tourist shots, for instance the one of the Arc de Triumphe.

Dennis, the night shots were taken with the little Canon Sureshot A640 P&S set on "Auto"!!
I am just as amazed as you are.
