Cove Hollow Road Crossing

Post by PFMcFarland »

I’m still trying out the new-to-me Nikon D80, using it in Shutter Priority mode this time. I beat the first train to the crossing, then while shooting some other stuff caught a second one.

Thanks, all. I really like the way the sky clears out after a front moves through, taking all the humidity with it. It was probably hazier the next day.

Those engines really look like they mean business. On my computer they really pop out well on Flickr. Reminds me of the first diesel engine I saw on the M&St.L. in the 1940's-- we kids thought they were amazing.

Thanks, Bill. The NYC (CCC&StL) line I lived on was mostly EMD territory, but every once in a while something strange would come around the bend. I'll never forget the first time I saw an ALCO. It was putting out so much smoke, I ran home and told mom the railroad had a new steam engine that looked like a diesel!
