Kuribayashi Petri Automate with f/1.9 lens
Kuribayashi Petri Automate with f/1.9 lens
I picked up a Petri Automate, 35mm rangefinder, a couple of months ago. The price was right: it was free, & the camera worked. The camera was made around 1958 in Japan. I found that it's lens had 40.5 mm threads for the filters, etc. I wound up getting a 40.5 to 46 mm step-up ring, & some 46mm filters, red, yellow, orange, etc., from Filterfind. Here are some test photos.
I just thought I'd tell everyone about it.

Other than the first two (which were probably shot close to wide open), I'd say you have a good user there.

That last shot is one of the nicest I've seen in a long, long time.

Thanks. Yes, I enjoy using it. These aren't seen too much here in the USA, but it's a decent camera.PFMcFarland wrote:Other than the first two (which were probably shot close to wide open), I'd say you have a good user there.

The first two is really only one; I don't know how it got added twice. However, it was from a roll of Ilford FP4+ that I developed with HC-110, dilution B (1:31). The roll was noticeably grainy. The others are from a roll, again Ilford FP4+, that I developed with, again, HC-110, but I used dilution D, 1:39, & extended the development time by 25%. Not as grainy. Interesting data point.

Thank you very much. She's my grand-daughter. Whenever I go on some errand with her, I say that I'm with the best girl in town. Everybody laughs, but I know it's true.scott wrote:That last shot is one of the nicest I've seen in a long, long time.

Rich, what does the camera look like? Don't make me do a Google search. I'm much too lazy for that.

Man, they were really going after the Leica M look. You could probably interchange that winding lever, and no one would notice the difference.
