Natural Bridge Station Revisited

Post by PFMcFarland »

I finally made it back to the scene for a clear view of this bridge during winter, so the trees wouldn’t be blocking things up. As it was, Spring had arrived quite a bit early, so flowers were blooming, and the trees were budding out. The middle of February is certainly getting to be strange around these parts.

Yashica Electro 35 CC rangefinder with a fixed mount Color-Yashinon DX 35mm 1:1.8 lens on Kodak Ektar 100, of which I’m not too fond of shooting in cloudy situations. But the weather started to change before I made it to the bridge.

Six image stitch.

Nice and we have 75 for tomorrow and 30s this weekend.
If we all saw the world the same no one would need a camera.

Superb pano, Phil. I was always a fan of the lens on the Electro 35. I remember unpacking the newly arrived stock and firing one up for display in the Yashica showroom back when God was a boy.

I think the Ektar gives this a particularly nice look. Have a roll in 120 I really need to shoot apparently. I like the pano.

Beautiful work in that set, Phil. What a combination -- Ektar and that Yashica Electro.

Thanks, all. One thing I forgot about is the camera has an annoying flare that shows up when the camera is pointed close towards a light source. And it doesn't have to be a strong light either. So I'm going to have to investigate the inside of the light chamber to see if there is something that needs to be blackened, or if the lens interior has a fault of some sort.

Many of these 60's RF have excellent lenses, but need a hood for best performance. I have never used a Yahica Electro 35 but my Oly 35Sp is very much prone to flare.

Oh, I've always got a hood on it, Julio. The reason I know it's coming from the front is something inside the light box blocks the flare along the very top of the image (bottom of the camera frame), but not the image itself. One problem I have with particular lenses or filters is reflections off a chrome ring, whether it's on the filter or the lens thread, which isn't the issue here.
