Pigg River Hydro-Dam Removal

Post by PFMcFarland »

Some time back I saw an article in the paper about the removal of the defunct hydro-electric dam on the Pigg River in Franklin County just outside of Rocky Mount, VA. It was not a large dam, but was well built. One day back in May I was driving around with the Leica R7 and some Kodak Ektar 100 looking for interesting subjects, and came across the dam remains.

The project removes a hazard, and allows migratory fish to travel further upstream to spawn.

Anything to assist wildlife is worth any effort. It's a pity that even these remains have to remain.......

Nice set. Not really much water there! Hope it is enough for the fish.

That R is doing its job well.
