No Nelson left.

If you need to unleash a rant or just have something that you want to say, you can post it here. It doesn't have to be about photography.

Thanks for the kind words, all.

Unfortunately, I think we did our best to try to get the nelsonfoto database, but it just never happened.

Sad to see it go.

And I agree that we need more folks.

Hi Mike, if we had a member list of Nelsonfoto somewhere, we could send an invitation to our old friends whom are absent here?

I second that.

For what it's worth: On self-hosted WordPress sites at least, anyone with access to the account (which the hosting service has) could use PHPAdmin to reset the password for the WP database and thereby get into it again (as I recall from losing one of my passwords a few years ago). Even if they could just use a database manager on the same system as the BBS to dump the records as SQL insert commands (common for archiving), the content would be clear text to do with as needed, sidestepping the BBS software entirely. Or so the theory goes.

Nelsonfoto was a traditional BBS and used VBulletin, I believe. Oh wait. It was VBulletin, and then he migrated to Simple Machine Forums.

I don't know if it's possible to get the member list from Nelsonfoto. I don't know if that information is accessible via the "wayback" servers.

I think that it's a good idea to do this, by the way: Get the member list and send an invite via a mass e-mail.

I tried one night to see what there was of Nelsonfoto via the "Internet Archive: Wayback Machine" site, but everything was a dead end. You could see titles of posts and all, but when you clicked on it, there was nothing there.

I just gave this a try myself but found nothing useful either. The main menu responds, so I figured I'd try to log in (ya never know...) but no success. Dead end indeed.

Im new to this, so far I can guess Nelsonfoto was a super-cool-place where you all plus a lot more people were doing the same as here but in encyclopedic proportions.
It would be nice to have such place back.

It is where many of us met and shared.
