Our last snow storm

Post by PFMcFarland »

Spring came into town right on schedule, but Winter missed the train heading out. A late storm overnight 4 days later left a light blanket of snow on everything, but was gone by that evening. I took these before the sun could melt it all off the trees.

I like more the first (composition and meaning) and the third (so gorgeous!) which tree is that?
Thank you Phil.

We have the same confusion here - we had 29C last week, now we are back to 10C and rain! Nice images, Phil.

Thank you, Alex. That is a dogwood tree, and this weekend is the big Vinton Dogwood Festival with a parade and carnival.

We usually have a bit of tug-of-war between the seasons here, Graham. But some years it seems like it just jumps right into summer. Thanks.

Nice document of the vagaries of the weather. The flowers are beautiful.

Your winter is stubborn indeed!

I hope that snowfall didn't do great damage to the blossoms and buds that you show in the time before the sun won out. We had a true blizzard here on the weekend of the 14th of April-- 10 or more inches of snow in our area and more elsewhere with white-outs on the 14th that made it nearly impossible to drive; there is usually some snow in April here but a storm of that magnitude is unusual. Glad you got out and documented yours.

Thanks, Julio and Bill.

We didn't have much snowfall this season, Bill. And most of the time it didn't last 24 hours. We had one storm where it was coming down really hard around 8:00am, and was all melted away by 2:00pm. I certainly don't miss the blizzards like we had in Indiana. I remember driving down county roads after the storm where you could just see above the snow pack if you were in a pick-up truck. If you were in a car, it was like driving through a canal.
