Tessar or Sonnar T

Often simply written as "W/NW" - your favorite photos. Explain them, or let your photos (film or digital) speak for themselves.

Tessar or Sonnar T

Post by alexvaras »

A little entertainment for you.
I got a Tessar 50mm 2.8 uncoated for the Contax IIa, I shot twice the same pic within 1 min interval with the new Tessar and the Sonnar T 50mm f2, pretty same setup with the camera, guess which is shot with each lens :)

For doing it more interesting there will be a prize for the winner, a "new" Lubitel 166 Universal with 6x4.5 mask, case, strap and box, it has been tested and everything is fine, no rusty box Phil :). Only forum members registered up to 16th July 2018. Shipping on me. In case of a tie, the first posted wins. No edits allowed. Winner will be announced when I'm back to Moscow on the 23rd.

Thank for watching/participating.

All A Tessars except Hector B. Hard to tell in the street shots.

I'd just be guessing, as I have no subjective way to tell them apart. But they are all nicely done.

Well, well, well...
Tessars:
Manolo.A
Hector.B
Street.A
Fountain.B
Natalia&Alexander.A
Brodskiy.A
I always shot the sonnar first and tessar second, I just posted the images in random order and I needed the negatives to verify :)

If Im not wrong a "tie" between Santiago and Julio, as I wrote in rules the first post wins in case of a tie.
Santiago is the winner! congrats!
Thank you all for participating and watching.

Edit: my PM to Santiago is still at outbox after some hours...

Well done Santiago!

From experience I know that the Sonnar out-of-focus look is different from the Tessar, smoother. "Hector" is a good example, look at the whitish rectangle on the right hand side and how it is rendered by both lenses.

In the other pictures, maybe the Tessar is crisper, much harder to tell (for me).

Thanks Alex for a nice riddle.

I was thinking you shot Tessar, Sonnar, Sonnar, Tessar, etc. etc. etc. At least, that's how I would have, just to keep from having to make so many lens changes. Congratulations to Santiago!
