As most of you here know, I've gone through a lot of different cameras over the years. Still have most of them. Some I have yet to get around to using (not that I haven't tried). But I've really tapered off this year, mainly because I'm running out of brands to discover.
But one brand that I've danced around quite a bit is Leica. Oh sure, I'd always say I aspired to owning one, and was sincere about it. It's just that there were all these other alternatives to investigate first. But two years ago I got my first actual Leica, an R3 SLR, which I quickly replaced with an R7 (meter system on the R3 not worth repairing). Then early this year it was the CL rangefinder. I really like it, but it has it's limitations. So today I put an order in for an M4-P. It has the expanded frame-line viewfinder (28, 35, 50, 75, 90, and 135mm), and the easy load film system. Plus, it can take a winder/grip drive!
It is the culmination of a long endeavor.

Re: Culmination
Oh, wow. That's great news. The Leica M4-P has a strong following and for a good reason. It's thought of as one of the best of the classic cameras and German camera design.
It took a while for Leica to perfect the lenses, but starting with the Summicron, they got it right. The Summitar is an excellent lens, as well.
I'm excited to see what you do with it.

Re: Culmination
Enjoy in good health. I was a noted anti-Leica in a past life, but the lack of other viable digital RFs made me change my ways. Now I really love my Leica.

Re: Culmination
Thanks, Santiago. I didn't necessarily dislike Leica, I just wanted to see if I could do as good without one. So this is like graduation to the next level.
BTW, the camera arrived today, and I was immediately enamored with it. Can't wait to run some Tri-X through it.

Re: Culmination
You know it. I also ordered a Winder M4-2 that was New Old Stock, but the seller forgot to check all the boxes he had because the one I got was missing the battery chamber. He put it in the mail today.alexvaras wrote:That was quick!!!
