Santiago, Brian,

Thanks for joining in with your excellent shots.

Brian, a superb first post. That Manassas battlefield shot must be a "natural" composition. Here's mine from November, 2013:

and I think that Reed George has a similar shot too.

But I like your wide-angle perspective better than mine. Did you use IR film? The white color of the grass interests me.

Thanks for joining in!

Most of my shots this year have been event photography -- sporting events, mostly -- or shots of my family. I'm pretty darn happy with this one, though, which was a grab shot of a good friend (the wife of the one buddy I've kept track of from high school) on the sidelines of an ultimate frisbee tournament. They'd been kind enough to come out to the fields and keep me company while I supported my daughter's team and shot the tournament, despite the unpleasantly cold weather that weekend. We were standing around, chatting between games, I looked up, and she looked so striking that I immediately pulled up the camera and starting clicking away, and she was kind enough to tolerate it. I was very pleased with the results, and so were they, fortunately.

Haven't done a lot else this year besides sports. Hope to do better in the second half of the year. Man, I can't believe it's almost half over already...

Heh -- thanks very kindly, James, but I'm going to have to admit that this is nothing more than a demonstration of Jim Richardson's epigram: "If you want to be a better photographer, stand in front of more interesting stuff"...!

Dennis- the picture at Manassas Battlefield was this past February, with the m Monochrom. I had called Kodak 4.5 years ago to try to convince them to make a monochrome/ IR version of the M9, at least they did the monochrome version. Same grouop that I called 20+ years ago for the DCS200ir.

Here is a shot from the same day, with the M8 and the Nikkor 5cm F1.4. This is shot in 16-bit RAW mode, then converted to DNG using M8RAW2DNG.
