That night picture of the church in Guayaquil is beautiful. Never been there except for plane connections.
Hope that you can get your visa but do post a few more of Quito if you can. These last three are from the market?
I went twice to Quito on business, but my hosts were kind enough to leave half a day to walk around the city, or the plane schedule was good for that. Once I went to the historic center, the second one to the Guayasamin museum.

Today I went higher.... to Guagrapamba waterfalls, amazing place!
At the North tip of Pichincha, in a cloud forest...
First we left Quito; the airport was at 2800m (~9,000 ft) so we climbed a good 400m more to get to the paramo
Norte de Quito
The end of town
Then we arrived to the beautiful paramo, were the clouds from the coast fill the canyons and bathe the mountain sides
NorOccidente
In less than 30 minutes we were in the amazing valley of NONO, where yu can find naturally carbonated water springs
Valle de Nono
Drying corn in Nono
From then a few minutes more to Guagrapamba (The place of the bull)
Bromelia
The cascades feed the river you can see at the bottom of the canyon, we had to climb a good 100m, and then descend 300m to the river
Cascada Guagrapamba
After a decent hike, the clouds starting coming in the afternoon (~3pm) and by the time we reached the base camp you could not see anything
Clouds are coming!

Hiking in the hills at that altitude is for people accustomed to it. Beautiful series!
