It needs a little cleaning but since it was free I won't complain. I can't get the meter head to work but then just having it on my siide is a Chick magnet. :D

Bencine' Comet S

This is what my son saw in an antique shop. It’s a Bencine’ Comet S made in Milan in 1950. It feeds on 127 film, giving 16 exposures 3x4cm. The body is a solid die cast construction and the lens is a simple doublet with front element focussing, marked in feet, therefore I presume this example was made for export to the UK. It has a simple rotary shutter with speeds of 1/50th and B. The aperture is fixed at f11.

Needless to say, it followed him home and now resides in my display cabinet. I am amazed at how small and compact this camera is - it’s really a “miniature” roll film camera. It measures 70 x 100 x 65 mm.

Although most references state that the name of the Bencine’ company was originally ICAF and that it was changed to CMF shortly before WW2, and that the name became CMF Bencine’ in 1946, changing to Bencine’ S.p.a. in the early 1950’s, this camera was made in 1959 yet has the name CMF on the front plate.

That is a cute camera. A roll of 127 should be run through it just for old times sake.
