I have these versions: The E has a Helios 44-2 58mm preset lens, the EM has auto diaphragm with the Helios 44M-4 58mm f2 lens.

Good looking cameras there, Graham. I'll have to dig my other Zenits out to see where the shutter release button is located. But first I'll check my usual sources to see when that change occurred.

Okay, found the info. The B, E, and TL-E models were the only ones to have the shutter release inside the winder, all other versions of the Zenit through the model 122 had it on top between the shutter speed dial and winder towards the back of the camera (as in the Leica and Nikon rangefinders). On the 16 it was moved to the back next to the viewfinder except on the Photosniper FS-4 set where it is on top next to the prism. On the 19/18 and above series it returned to the top between the winder and speed dial but was more ergonomically placed towards the front of the camera as per just about every other SLR of that time.

That’s a good looking camera, Graham, if I would take a portrait I would choose yours for sure. A Cord with Triotar is on the list.
