Recently the Minolta X700 was mentioned. I got rid of most of my Minolta bodies but Kept this X700. Here it is with the Pro Master 19-35mm that lives on it 80% of the time. I shot this with some PolyPan F.

Here is an odd one. This is a Vivitar SLD 450. Cosina most likely but here is the kicker. It is an M42 camera with a 1 degree spot meter. Pentax was going to put a spot meter in the Spotmatic but never did. As far as I can see not many M42 cameras had a spot meter. this camera has a little button to switch between Spot and center weighted averaging. I got it and it was full of melted goo so I had to fix it. It is a nice easy to hold camera and when I took the bottom off to clean it out it looked like they had designed it to take an auto advance but never went through with the idea so they just put a flat bottom on it but under there I could see a slot.

Well, it's Friday again! How about this....?

This is a Braun Paxina 35. Manufactured by Braun Kamerawerke in Nuremburg between 1953 and 1954. It had a sister model 29 fitted with a f2.9 Praxar lens. Despite the moniker, (which alludes to it's f3.5 lens) it's a 120 roll-film camera taking twelve 6X6 negatives. The lens is a 75mm f3.5 Praxanar mounted in a Pronto shutter with speeds of B, 1/25, 1/50, 1/100 & 1/200. The lens assembly is mounted on a retractible tube which has to be extended to take photographs, and collapsed for storage. There is no double exposure prevention and the film frames are counted using the traditional red window method. The eye-level viewfinder is rudimentary and the view is obscured by the upper part of the lens assembly. Focussing is by rotation of the front lens element. If you kept your wits about you, you could obtain good results as the lens and shutter are superb. There is an accessory push-on lens hood, which I have used as a rest to support the camera for the photos. The top photo shows the lens retracted and the lower picture shows the lens tube extended for use. When retracted, the shutter release protrudes into a socket on the camera body preventing actuation.

Strange but true.....
