At least the rain washed out the dust. You got some trip there.

It's hard when you are driving, and you know there is no place to hide from what is coming at you. I had that with storms, hail, and very strong winds, but never with a dust storm.

Moreover you are driving in the wrong side of the road (but then the other drivers do the same).

What are those ranges? I thought your continent was flat.

In australia we drive on the correct side of the road......it's all the other countries that drive on the right side that are wrong

Australia is not 'flat' as some people expect. It is ancient continent and the 'Hills' i am heading towards are a mountain range that forms the Adelaide Hills, continues north and solits into what becomes the Flinders Ranges and east into new south wales toward broken hill. the hills are are much, much older than the Himalayas, Andes, Rocky Mountains. in fact they were once as high and higher than the present day alpine ranges on other continents. where are they now? well...the plain surrounding the ranges were formed from the mountains being worn down over billennia......
there is flat gibber plain north of Coober Pedy.....man is that country FLAT....so flat that you can see the earth curve. but we have also mountains in the East .Mount Kosciuszko is our highest Mountain ,a modest 2228m . while the country is flat in large parts, we have pretty well all other terrain know to man aswell.but no active volcanoes.not yet anyway...
