Amazon apparently has a patent on the position of studio lights. And if you light your subject in the manner illustrated in this Amateur Photographer article, you could be infringing on Amazon's patent and could be sued.

After reading this, I can't understand why Amazon would care how people light their products. Or why Amazon should be granted a patent for the position of studio lights.

Wow. If this is true, it's another reason to give up on the current legal system.
Patent offices clearly need the services of devil's advocates.
