Nikkormat Three Lens Test

After many years of pining for my first Nikkormat that I sold so long ago, I’ve finally put together a kit with an FTn, non-AI Auto Nikkors 35/2.5, 50/2, and 105/2.5 with the proper hoods and caps.

Any exposure corrections were necessitated by my mistakes, not the camera meter. Other than that, it was like riding a bicycle, you never forget. Almost makes me feel like I’m forty years younger. But I’ve more wear and tear on me, although I did have to pound out a filter ring dent on the 35/2.8.

Sort of funny there as some of you know I parked all my High tech gear and went to shooting a Nikon F2 with a 50 mm a 24 mm and a 100mm Macro. I did add a 2x extender recently for a little more but basically that along with an old potato masher flash is all I have been using for film. Nice shots and I enjoy the bicycle more than the sports car I was using. A Nikon F100. :D

Now that I have a small supply of Wein cells, Larry, I plan on using the old Nikons more often.

That is a good set of old Nikon glass, it shows in the pictures, too.

Oh yes, these are nice. There's something to be said about taking your time and really enjoying the craft of photography.

And I know what you mean. I can pick up my older F2A, bring it to my eye, and I immediately remember where everything is and how it feels oh-so-perfect when I'm using it.

None of the digital SLR's that I have ever used feels like that, Mike. My Nikon F just doesn't get between me and the photograph. All of the DSLR's do!
